Who should attend?
New entrants to the industry.
Background
Follow OH&S Procedures is a unit of competence that sets a nationally agreed minimum benchmark of OH&S for people working in the transport sector. The standards were initially developed by industry in 1997 and are now being used to underpin WA's move toward achieving a safe and efficient road transport system through the Heavy Vehicle Accreditation system.
The unit shows that a person can effectively follow workplace procedures for hazard identification and risk control and that they can complete all the relevant documents. By having this unit of competence as a minimum entry requirement, the community can be assured that all employees in companies that operate Permit Vehicles will know what the procedures are for dealing with accidents, fire and emergencies, and they can both identify hazards and know who to report them to.
