Who should attend

All personnel not directly involved with driving a dangerous goods vehicle, loading or storage who require a basic understanding of the classification, identification, signage and emergency procedures relating to Dangerous Goods.

Course Content
  • Recognition of dangerous goods and hazardous substances
  • General hazards associated with the various classes of dangerous goods
  • How to interpret the requirements of material safety data sheets
  • How to identify ‘Bulk’ or ‘Packaged’ dangerous goods
  • An overview of the current Australian Dangerous Goods Code 
  • Labelling of packages and placarding of vehicles
  • Licencing requirements of stores
  • Segregation requirements for vehicles and storage
  • Training requirements for staff in stores and transport
  • Overview of Compliance and Enforcement legislative requirements
Certification

This is a non-accredited training course.
On successful completion of this course, participants are issued a Statement of Participation.

Delivery Location

As of the 6th of March 2017 all advertised WARTA courses (Excluding WARTA’s Heavy Vehicle Pilot course) will move to new training facilities at the premises of Training Course Experts (TCE) – 3 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge.

Note: All Heavy Vehicle Pilot courses will still be conducted at WARTA’s Malaga premises – Unit 4/13 Townsend Street, Malaga.

Language Literacy and Numeracy

Courses offered by WARTA require individuals to have a basic level of Literacy and Numeracy skills and knowledge to be able to read and interpret information from reference materials, complete basic mathematical equations and write in English to complete assessments. If you have any difficulties, please advise our office at your earliest convenience prior to training or assessment, so that we may arrange appropriate assistance.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Credit Transfer (CT)
