Explosives Driver Licence

WARTA is an approved provider authorised by the Department of Mines and Petroleum. Training meets the requirements of Clause 8.4.3 Code for the Transport of Explosives.

Who Should Attend?

This 1-Day course is intended for drivers who already hold a Dangerous Goods Drivers Licence, who would like to apply for their Explosives Drivers Licence and transport Explosives.

  • Characteristics and Hazards of Explosives Divisions 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 ,1.5 and 1.6

Certification & Licencing

On successful completion of this course, students are issued a Statement of Attainment for the following unit(s) of competency:

  • TLID3015 Identify and label explosives and dangerous goods
  • TLID2016 Load and unload explosives and dangerous goods

These units form part of TLI31216 – Certificate III in Driving Operations.

Once this training is completed, students must complete an online application with the Department of Mines and Petroleum to apply for a new or renew an existing Explosives Drivers Licence.

 

Handy hints when lodging your application
  • Applications must be lodged online – through the Department of Mines and Petroleum’s new Safety Regulation (SRS) System within 6 months of the date of training.
  • You must have electronic copies or all accompanying documentation ready to attach for your electronic submission.
  • All accompanying application documents (e.g.  Medical Certificate, Police Clearances and  Statement of Attainment for your training) must be dated within 6 months of the date you lodge your application. Failure to provide these documents may delay the issuing of your licence, or prevent your application from being accepted.
  • If you have held a licence within any other state or territory other than Western Australia within the past 5 years, and are aware that you have incurred infringements, loss of demerit points or a conviction you need to obtain copies of your driving record from that state or territory to accompany your application.

  • National Police Certificates can now be obtained online  from WAPOL.

Delivery Location

As of the 6th of March 2017 all advertised WARTA courses (Excluding WARTA’s Heavy Vehicle Pilot course) will move to new training facilities at the premises of Training Course Experts (TCE) – 3 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge.

Note: All Heavy Vehicle Pilot courses will still be conducted at WARTA’s Malaga premises – Unit 4/13 Townsend Street, Malaga.

Language Literacy and Numeracy

Courses offered by WARTA require students to have a basic level of Literacy and Numeracy skills and knowledge to be able to read and interpret information from reference materials, complete basic mathematical equations and write in English to complete assessments. If you have any difficulties, please advise our office at your earliest convenience prior to training or assessment, so that we may arrange appropriate assistance.
