Fremantle Ports and the WA Road Transport Association are preparing to jointly host a highly informative Transport Operator Information Seminar on current topics that are port-related and of importance to the transport industry. Main Roads WA is also providing support.
Transport operators, particularly those who regularly access the port, are encouraged to attend this free event which will be held at the Royal Fremantle Golf Club from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm on Thursday 12th March.
Chain of responsibility (CoR), which will come into effect in Western Australia on 27 April 2014, will be one of the agenda items, with the aim of increasing awareness of the legislation and what it means.
Chain of Responsibility laws recognise the responsibilities of others in the road transport chain, beyond the driver and operator. The legislation introduces legal accountability throughout the transport chain. Increased road safety is the overall aim, to be achieved through a nationally uniform approach to compliance on issues such as load size and weight. The legislation is designed to make all parties answerable for their actions and to create an environment of accountability and fairness.
