There has been some negative media coverage regarding the Perth Freight Link recently with it being labelling as a ‘waste of tax payers money’, would harm the city of Fremantle and damage the operations of the port. I feel this coverage is potentially being portrayed to the public in a somewhat biased view.
Here are the facts.
There are two sections of the link MRWA are seeking proposals on:
|Section 1||5.2km extension of Roe Highway (Stage 8) from Kwinana Freeway to just west of Coolbellup Avenue; and|
|Section 2||Upgrades to Stock Road, Leach Highway, High Street and Stirling Highway, spanning 8.2km.|
Three consortia have been chosen from the Expressions of Interest (EOI) phase and are now participating in the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase. Proponents for Section 2 are being asked to conduct a feasibility study for an alternative route, which includes a tunnel option, during the RFP stage…
