Diabetes Research WA was the big winner of the 2014 TWU Super Transport Industry Charity Golf Day staged at Joondalup Resort on October 14. More than $4500 raised on the day through registrations and the auction during the evening’s festivities.
About 100 starters enjoyed the idyllic weather on The Dunes and The Lakes courses in sunny conditions.
The winners of the golfing side were Dennis Bates of Matic Transport, Clarry Wrensted of Simon National Carriers, Phil Hall from Unity Insurance Brokers and James Barron of DOSH Finance.
Second place went to Will Badger of The Lifting Company, Craig Kennington from QUBE, Sandy Mettam from Leighton’s and Kerman’s Paul Hebron. Third place was filled by the Whiteline Transport crew of Joe Hegedus, Daniel Harvey, Sinan Sazlilar and Glen Baker.
For winner Clarry Wrenstead it was “a great day and a lot of fun and all for a good cause. That’s why I donated my bag back for another auction. “It raised $300 and for mine and James Barron also donated and his raised a further $250. “I wasn’t going to put tournament winning clubs into a different bag now, was I?” On why his team did so well, Clarry said: “It’s fair to say that while we all contributed, there were a couple of boys who played better than me. “When you get two eagles, there’s a few good shots,” he said…
